The (38th) Annual Hampton Classic always signifies the end to the summer in the Hamptons. Held in high regard by the horse community, famous for its celebrity sightings, and second to none in high end shopping boutiques, it earns its nickname The Classic. It is one of the most prestigious horse shows in the nation, and features competitors at every level from young children in "Leadline" to Olympic veterans in the feature Event of the Classic, the $250,000 FTI Grand Prix

This year, the Classic features six show rings, a "Boutique Garden" with more than 70 high-end vendors, and an array of dining options.

Governor Andrew Cuomo stopped in to show his support for the "Taste NY" vendor stand and tasted some home-grown New York peaches.

This past Saturday they held the 18th annualArthur Ashe Kids’ Day at the US Open. It was the unofficial kickoff of the 2013 US Open tennis tournament and they were visited by guest speaker, the First Lady Michelle Obama, who was there to promote her “Let’s Move” campaign.

Mrs. Obama told the guests that she urged her own daughters to get active in tennis so they wouldn’t have the struggle at the game that she has had as an adult. She congratulated the US Tennis Association’s initiative to install five thousand new kid-sized tennis courts across the country and to train 15,000 new coaches, trainers and teachers over a three year period beginning next year.

Mrs. Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign was created to get kids more active and eating healthy meals.

On Thursday, August 22, the elegant Parisian pop-up picnic, Dîner en Blanc, Philadelphia took place for a second year. John F. Kennedy Boulevard, approaching 30th Street Station, was this year's 'secret' space. Culinary and culture enthusiasts dressed in white converged upon a secret locale for an unforgettable evening of elegance, beauty and magic. Attendees came prepared with tables, chairs, non-disposable supplies, food, wine and floral arrangements. Evening festivities included napkin waving, sparkler lighting, live music, dinner, and dancing. More than 2,000 people participated in this year's feast.

The "dinner in white," which began humbly in 1988, is now attended by thousands at some of the best-known Parisian spaces. That year, François Pasquier returned to Paris after a few years abroad and held a dinner party to reconnect with friends. So many wanted to come that he asked them to convene at the Bois de Boulogne and to dress in white, so they could find each other!
